2025 Tax Season Information

Dear SKJ & Company, P.S. Clients:

As the 2025 tax filing season is approaching, we are providing the following important information to ensure smooth document preparation and efficient processing. Please read the details below carefully, as there are many important points.

SafeSend Use and NetClient CS Closure Notice

As previously announced, we have discontinued the use of NetClient CS and have transitioned to SafeSend as our platform for tax document delivery. Please refer to the prior notice linked below for details regarding this change: https://skjcpa.com/notice-of-transition-from-netclient-cs-to-safesend/

How to Use SafeSend

All documents sent by our office, including the Organizer (see “Tax Filing Documents” below), as well as documents exchanged via secure links, can be viewed in one place through the SafeSend Portal.

You may sign up for the SafeSend Portal by visiting www.skjcpa.com -> Login -> SafeSend -> Sign Up. Unlike NetClient CS, which required complex passwords and two-factor authentication, the SafeSend Portal only requires setting a 6-digit PIN. Each time you log in, an 8-digit verification code will be sent to your email.

Please note that you must be included in our client database to register for our SafeSend Portal. If you receive the message “Information is invalid. Please contact the firm” during registration, please email us at tax@skjcpa.com, and we will assist you promptly.

2025 Tax Filing E-File Start Dates

The IRS e-file server opening dates for 2025 tax returns are as follows:

  • Business Tax Returns: January 13, 2026
  • Individual Tax Returns: January 26, 2026

Note: Even after the IRS servers open, tax filing is usually not possible until mid-February due to form availability and document issuance delays.

2025 Tax Filing Deadlines and Processing Time

The filing deadlines for 2025 tax returns are as follows:

  • Individual (Form 1040): April 15, 2026
  • S Corporation (Form 1120-S): March 16, 2026
  • Corporation (Form 1120): April 15, 2026
  • Partnership (Form 1065): March 16, 2026

Tax return preparation generally takes two weeks from the date all documents are received. However, during peak season, additional time may be required. We strongly encourage you to submit all documents at least three weeks before the deadline.

Filing Extension Information

If you are unable to complete your tax return by the deadline due to missing documents or personal circumstances, you may file an extension request by the original deadline to receive a 6-month extension.

Extended filing deadlines are as follows:

  • Individual (Form 1040): October 15, 2026
  • S-Corporation (Form 1120-S): September 15, 2026
  • C-Corporation (Form 1120): October 15, 2026
  • Partnership (Form 1065): September 15, 2026

Please note that an extension only extends the filing deadline, not the tax payment deadline. Failure to pay the estimated tax due by the original due date may result in late payment penalties and interest.

If you expect to owe taxes, we recommend contacting our office at least two weeks before the April 15 deadline to prepare accordingly. For more information regarding late payment penalties, please refer to the following article: https://skjcpa.com/2022-12-31-1040ext/

For clients whose 2024 tax returns were prepared by our office, as well as new clients, we will submit extension requests as needed. However, the responsibility for filing extensions and meeting payment deadlines ultimately rests with the taxpayer, and our office assumes no liability in this regard. If you believe an extension is necessary, please confirm this with our office.

CPA Consultations by Appointment Only

To improve efficiency, all CPA consultations are conducted by appointment only. Appointments may be scheduled through our website using the link below. Walk-in visits without an appointment cannot be accommodated.
