2024 Tax Season Information

Dear Clients of SKJ & Company, P.S.

2024 income tax filing season starts soon. To ensure proper communications with clients and accuracy of our work, we are sharing the information below to help our clients to plan for 2024 tax season.

2024 Tax Season Starting Date

IRS E-File server is scheduled to open on following dates:
– Business Tax Returns: January 15, 2025
– Individual Tax Returns: January 27, 2025

2024 Tax Return Due Dates and Turnaround

2024 tax return due dates are as following:
– Individual (Form 1040): April 15, 2025
– S-Corporation (Form 1120-S): March 17, 2025
– C-Corporation (Form 1120): April 15, 2025
– Partnership (Form 1065): March 17, 2025

Your tax return will be ready within 2 weeks from the date when all documents and information are fully received, but it may take longer due to technical issues. Please submit all documents at least 3 weeks prior to the due date.

Extension for Tax Filing Due Date

You may submit a request to extend the time to file your income tax return. The request will extend the due date by 6 months, resulting in the following extended due dates:
– Individual (Form 1040): October 15, 2025
– S-Corporation (Form 1120-S): September 17, 2025
– C-Corporation (Form 1120): October 15, 2025
– Partnership (Form 1065): September 17, 2025

Be aware that the extension request will only extend the time to file tax return and will NOT extend the payment due date. You will be subject to late payment penalty and interest if the tax is not paid in full by 4/15/2025. If you expect any tax due and need to file extension, please contact us at least 2 weeks before 4/15/2025 deadline. For more information about late payment penalty, please refer to the article on our FAQ page: https://skjcpa.com/2022-12-31-1040ext/

We will prepare and file extension for all of our existing clients, but please be mindful that it is the taxpayer’s responsibility to comply with all deadlines and our firm cannot be responsible for any penalties that may be imposed. Please contact our office to confirm the status of your tax filing.
